“Of course, the biggest demand is for gunpowder. We also perceive an abnormal interest in fully combustible propellants, which is related to the war in Ukraine. We sent goods, the value of which amounts to less than a fifth of the company’s turnover, either directly or indirectly to the war-affected area. Of course, the sale of explosives is not far behind money and propellants,” said the chairman of the board of directors, Radomír Krejča.
In addition to the military sector, which is currently thriving especially due to the war in Ukraine, production for the civilian sector also contributes to good results. Explosia produces a large number of industrial explosives, through the Fospol section it offers comprehensive services in mining in stone quarries. The production also includes special products that are used, for example, by special units of the police or the army.
Explosia exports its products to European Union countries and other countries. Exports in 2022 reached 72 percent of production. The company has two sales warehouses in Krmelín in Frýdecko-místek and Lužná near Rakovník.
Since 2002, the company has been wholly owned by the state, the shares are held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The company has been operating in Pardubice since 1920. Until 2002, the owner was the Agrofert group.
