Most of the political groups have already presented their leaders for the autumn regional elections earlier, the ANO movement, the winner of the previous elections to the regional council in the Pilsen region, revealed its number one among the last. Doctor and politician Kamal Farhan was nominated for the post of governor.

The regional assembly approved the ANO candidate, led by MP and shadow health minister Kamal Farhan. “The current mayor of Pilsen, Roman Zarzycký, came up with the idea that as a strong patriot and today actually a seasoned politician from the lower house, I should give back to my beloved region at least part of what it has enabled and given me. I changed my mind. He discussed it with his wife. He discussed with colleagues in the movement, gained their support. And finally he made an important decision. I will lead the candidate of the ANO movement in the Pilsen region as a leader,” Kamal Farhan said after the regional assembly.

The mayor of Pilsen, Roman Zarzycký, is in seventh place on the ANO candidate list, the mayors of the Pilsen districts, Ivana Bubeníčková, David Procházka, Tomáš Soukup and Michal Hausner, as well as the mayor of Stříbra, Martin Záhoř, are also candidates.

The Pirates have been clear about their candidate for governor since January. Number one was awarded to the current governor, Rudolf Špoták. ODS goes to regional elections together with TOP 09 and independent mayors. The leader of the candidates is regional representative Jan Šašek. The current deputy governor Pavel Čížek will lead the STAN group into the elections. The Social Democracy bet on Václav Šimánek, director of the Pilsen University Hospital, the KSČM on former deputy Jiří Valenta, and the Pro nás kraj group presented urologist Jiří Klečka as its candidate.

Elections to regional councils will be held this fall, and people will elect more representatives in the Pilsen Region. The number of seats will increase from the current 45 to 55. The reason is the increase in the number of inhabitants, which has already exceeded the 600,000 mark.
