In Pilsen on Saturday evening, the equipment of the historic town hall building and a flower pot were damaged, most likely with the intention of stealing one of the flags that were placed at the town hall as part of the Freedom Celebrations.
A man damaged a flower pot and the equipment of the Pilsen town hall building.
“The officers were met with truly incredible insolence shortly after midnight from Saturday, May 4 to Sunday, May 5. On the screens of the city’s camera system, which was monitored by our operations department, a group of three people appeared in front of the Pilsen town hall. Two men and one woman were acting innocently, but only until one of the men literally started climbing the wall of the town hall,” described Tereza Schliková, spokesperson for the Pilsen Municipal Police.
The 36-year-old man climbed onto an ornamental flower pot and then hung himself several meters high on the fastening structure of the bell, which is located on the historic building. But it could not support his weight, it broke from the wall and the man fell down, overturning and damaging the flower pot below him.
“At that time, a patrol of police officers was already on its way to the scene, and caught the trio having a cheerful conversation in a side street, and all those involved in the patrol subsequently confirmed the event that happened a short while ago,” the spokeswoman said. “Due to the man’s fall and possible internal injuries, emergency medical services were called to the scene, as well as the state police, who took over the incident due to suspicion of a criminal act.”
