Argentine President Javier Milei will visit the Czech Republic in mid-June, receive the annual prize of the Liberal Institute, and give a lecture in Prague on June 18. In a press release, the Liberal Institute and the Anglo-American College informed about it on Monday. It is not yet known whether Milei will meet top politicians during her visit to the Czech Republic.

The ultra-liberal economist Milei took office on December 10 and within a short time announced hundreds of measures changing laws in the economic and social fields. According to Reuters, his first measures have improved the management of the public sector and the balance of foreign trade, but have not yet been able to stop the growth of inflation and poverty in the country.

“As a libertarian advocating anarcho-capitalism, he advocates a minimal role for the state in society,” said Jiří Schwarz, founder of the Liberal Institute and rector of the Anglo-American College. The institute awards its annual prize every year for the contribution to the development of liberal thinking and the implementation of the ideas of freedom, private property, competition and the rule of law in practice. It was received, for example, by Nobel Prize laureates for economics Milton Friedman, Gary Becker and James Buchanan.
