An advertising text in magazines labeled as pretentious was one of the reasons why the former rector of the University of Silesia in Opav Pavel Tuleja (TOP 09) gave up the nomination for minister of women last week. Pre-Torian associations publish articles regardless of their quality, the academic environment is flooded with texts that do not meet the basic requirements of professional materials. Nerudov, according to Seznam Zprv, first published in foreign magazines among the prefects when she was vice-chancellor and then vice-chancellor at Brno University.
Tulej’s nakte academics, in addition to publishing houses in pre-Torian journals, pointed out the poor quality of professional works in the field of economics. Economist Daniel Mnich from Charles University said in an interview for the iDnes.cz portal that when evaluating publications in these journals, you have to distinguish between their systematic abuse and individual mistakes. Economist Jaroslav Borovika from New York University’s Seznam server said at first that there is a visible difference between Nerudov’s and Tulej’s scientific work. He sees Tuleja’s work as a “great negative excess”, and Neruda’s is about average.

In total, Nerudov as author and co-author published 260 texts of a scientific nature from 2002 to the present, Seznam Zprvy reported. She wrote nine times for magazines included in the so-called Beall’s list of so-called potential precursor magazines, in six cases she wrote about the Business Review magazine, and she wrote about the Journal of American Business Review and the American Academy of Business Review. “I don’t remember whether there was a payment for the publishing house, it’s been more than ten years,” said Nerudov.
Recently, the former presidential candidate announced that she has not published in problematic journals since 2015, and that, for example, the number of readers in the Web of Science database shows a significant shift in the quality of her scientific work. Nerudov ascribes his mistakes to two highly rated coffee shops. “He evaluated only the quantity, not the quality of the publications. This was also related to the dynamic development of pre-Torian magazines that were parasitic on the system,” she said.
“I am very glad that this has led to a change in the evaluation of science and research, so today academics take it seriously and, thanks to the pressure on quality, be careful where you publish. We have come a long way in the right direction,” she added. She added that she has long been advocating that professionals and docents have to defend their publications and grants every five years, i.e. quality work.
She connected Neruda’s fall with the beast of the election campaign. “Information reached me that they were looking for Nerudová on all fronts. I was wondering what would happen this time. That’s why I was surprised that a year and a half old information was being pulled. Once again, they are looking at your work from all sides and its low quality,” she said.
