Prague will buy new vehicles for its emergency medical service (EMS) for 127 million crowns, the money will come from the Ministry of Regional Development. The reason for the modernization of the vehicle fleet is that the current cars of the Prague ambulance are in continuous operation and need to be replaced. Prague councilors approved it on Monday, municipality spokesman Vít Hofman informed about their decision. At the same time, Prague ambulance cars were manufactured between 2009 and 2013.

“Our Prague ambulance is not only the oldest ambulance service in Europe, but above all one of the best. The number of their trips is constantly increasing, and they and the people of Prague deserve our support. From my point of view, they are really guardian angels, whose importance most people often realize only when they need them,” said the Deputy Mayor of Prague for Social Affairs and Health Alexandra Udženija (ODS).

“I’m glad that we managed to get funds for this investment event for the Medical Rescue Service of the capital. city ​​of Prague. The new cars will be high-quality, reliable and always ready for action,” said councilor for finance, budget, funds and business support Zdeněk Kovářík (ODS).

According to the approved plan and Concept for the development of ZZS HMP from 2018, which was confirmed by the Deputy Head of city ​​of Prague, it was already planned to purchase 15 new vehicles per year in 2019 and 2020.

“However, the implementation of this public order was postponed due to the complicated situation during the covid-19 crisis. In the end, the supplier was selected in 2022 and the order for 30 vehicles was implemented,” described municipality spokesman Vít Hofman.

The Prague Medical Rescue Service has 23 bases. According to their own statistics, Prague rescuers went to 135,000 incidents last year.
