The tragic event occurred during a break in a circus performance in Kravařy in the Opava region. An almost five-year-old girl was said to have inhaled too large a bite of a hot dog her grandmother had bought for her during recess. Despite the efforts of the neighborhood and rescuers, the girl could not be saved and she died in hospital a few days later.
The unfortunate incident should have happened on April 25 in the Mezivodka cow farm, writes Novinky.cz, which drew attention to the case. The child fell unconscious after inhaling too large a bite. “Two passers-by tried to save them with the help of indirect heart massage. Other people called an ambulance,” police spokesman René Černohorský told the server.
After that, paramedics, including an ambulance helicopter, arrived at the scene, the girl managed to restore blood circulation, but after a few days in the Ostrava University Hospital, she succumbed to a serious condition. According to experts, this is a very rare case and in the overwhelming majority of cases the child will be saved.
“It’s just a unit of cases per decade. Together with my colleagues, we remembered at most three children in the last twenty years,” Jan Pavlíček, head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Ostrava University Hospital, told the server. According to him, the only protection is to teach children to consume food calmly and sparingly, young children should also receive a diet appropriate for their age.
