The natural amphitheater in the Rochus Park complex in Uherské Hradiště experienced its premiere. The new open-air cultural scene officially raised the curtain at the Opening of the Pastures and the Building of May. The amphitheater with a capacity of 500 people in the open-air museum grew already last year, the costs rose to 11.4 million crowns.

Cultural enrichment, connection with nature, a new tourist destination for cross-country skiing and a place for rest and meeting, this is the mission of the new natural amphitheater in Rochus Park, according to the town hall. “This is an important step in the revitalization of the entire park and also a significant expansion of the museum’s outdoor program options,” added Jan Pášma, spokesman for the Uhersko-Hradiště town hall.

The first performers who tried out the environment of the new cultural scene were the Kalina Folk Ensemble or the band Čendeš from central Slovakia. The amphitheater is a joint project between Uherské Hradiště and Púchov. “Such a place was missing in the heart of Slovácko, it grew up in a picturesque environment above the city, where the surrounding nature creates the best backdrops for culture, art or other types of entertainment,” highlighted Stanislav Blaha, the mayor of Uherské Hradiště. Rochus Park and Open-Air Museum organizes a number of events throughout the year that use the amphitheater. “However, its creation opens up new possibilities for other organizers from the city, who are already counting on a number of events this year,” revealed the mayor.

The amphitheater offers a semi-circular stage with a radius of 12.5 meters, accessible from all sides. The tiered auditorium allows a good view of the stage from every place, the access routes are made up of illuminated ramp stairs. Also new is the zone for parents with children with various game elements for all age categories, made of highly durable acacia wood. There is also shaded seating under a removable awning by the playground.

The birth of the amphitheater required 11.4 million crowns, the playground and furniture cost another 1.3 million. However, the town hall was relieved by a subsidy of almost 7.5 million from the European Union.
