For example, in Varnsdorf in the Děčín region, at the beginning of spring, they opened a new kindergarten, which the city had built on a free space next to the Edison elementary school.

The ground floor pavilion of the kindergarten has an atypical ellipse shape. “There is such a pleasant energy here, I must say – such a calmness and well-being. And it is transferred to the children as well,” states Veronika Strolená, who manages the new kindergarten for 50 children, together with the original buildings in another part of the city.

“We still have three old buildings – there we have 38 children with special educational needs and 19 children in one regular class. By now expanding to include a new kindergarten, we will satisfy all interested parties from our catchment area – Varnsdorf,” adds Strolená.

The city operates eight kindergartens. According to Deputy Mayor Jan Šišulák from the Volba grouping for the city of Varnsdorf, the reinforcement of 50 new places in the new kindergarten for 102 million crowns is sufficient. “As far as I know, we also have two-year-old children in some kindergartens, so that capacity should be enough at the moment,” he confirms.

They are also increasing the capacity of kindergartens elsewhere

Other cities in the Ústí Region also increased their capacity. For example, in Žatec, they have increased the number of children in classes, similar to the case in Most, where they are also completing additions to the Albrechtická kindergarten.

In Teplice, they are planning to expand the Koperník kindergarten. According to Deputy Mayor Monika Peterková from ODS, there should be 70 new places. “The feasibility study has been completed and the project has been assigned,” he adds.

Children over the age of three are eligible for admission to kindergarten. Pre-school education is compulsory for five-year-old children.
