For four days, the governor of the Olomouc region, Josef Suchánek, went to the city of Cedar Rapids in the state of Iowa in the USA to discuss the possibilities of partnership and cooperation with our region.
He spoke with the Americans, for example, about economic cooperation and business. The representatives of the region also visited the National Czech and Slovak Museum with a library, which wants to present and sell chocolate from Velké Losiny.
“The foreign work trip to Cedar Rapids was very successful. We have built on the experience of last year and at the same time moved the county in cooperation with this region in the state of Iowa in several areas. I would like to thank the museum in Cedar Rapids for the invitation and the excellent organization of the entire event, and Palacký University for the cooperation,” said Governor Suchánek.
A year ago, representatives of the governor’s office visited the GRADD partner region in the state of Kentucky in the USA, and one of the stops was Cedar Rapids, where they opened up possible cooperation for the first time. Now they also returned in detail to a possible partnership, especially in the field of research and development. For example, they negotiated the reception of a business delegation from Cedar Rapids in the Olomouc region and met with representatives of the Czech embassies in the USA.
One day was dedicated to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids, which is the only institution of its kind in the USA. It was also about the introduction of regional products from the Olomouc Region in the museum shop. The chocolate from Velké Losiny will be the first to show off its skills there.
The representatives of the region were invited to the regular video program Káva a koláke directly in the museum, where they presented Velkolosin chocolates.
