On Thursday, May 16, from 5:00 p.m., the 7 Teplice Hills exhibition dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the founding of the Teplice Museum Society will be inaugurated in the Riding Hall of the Teplice Castle. Come and enjoy views of the city from the years 1770-1870.

Like the famous Rome, Teplice is spread between several heights and hills. Although Teplice did not reach his fame, they still shone very brightly in the starry European sky of the 19th century. Not only on the spa side, but also on the artistic side.

Teplice and its surroundings found themselves in the sketchbooks and on the canvases of Dresden, Vienna and Prague landscape painters. The spa also promoted graphic vedutes (views of the city) published by renowned Central European publishers. They were a popular spa souvenir and a frequent model for the decoration of spa glass. Over time, “Memories of Teplice” became a sought-after collector’s item.

At the beginning of its activity, the Teplice Museum acquired a unique collection of drawings, graphic views and spa glass. Later, the collection was enriched with parts of the original inventory of the castle, which now houses the museum. The collections included and are also sets of minerals that point to the inner beauty of the hills. They also served as souvenirs. The exhibition, which will last until September 8, does not describe hill by hill, but primarily wants to point out the uniqueness of Teplice, as a place closely connected with famous names in history. Although the exhibition represents only a selection from the collection, it is the largest presentation of works of art associated with Teplice spas to date. On Tuesday, May 21, from 6 p.m., there will be a guided tour of the exhibition with curator Bohuslava Chleborádová.
