“We lacked humility, unfortunately we performed at the level of the second Czech league,” Tomáš Grepl, the very angry coach of BK ARMEX Děčín, shook his head. “We deservedly won here, Děčín was in the game for practically one quarter, then we dominated the match,” smiled Jan Šotnar, coach of Sluneta in Ústí.
Both teams entered the match very nervous, waiting two minutes for the first points. After the first quarter, Děčín led 19:14, but in the second Ústí fired up and took a nine-point lead.

“We started relatively well, as if nothing could happen to us. We got our revenge in the second quarter. Unfortunately, one or two warnings were not enough for us. The mouth shot wide, we weren’t able to foul. The second half was a fluke, we didn’t get anything out of it. The match is clearly behind us, we have to play much better on Wednesday,” Grepl is clear.
The Warriors didn’t do well in defense, but neither did they do well in attack. The players seemed nervous in the end, in clear positions instead of shooting at the basket they passed to more difficult positions. They finished the game with 69 points. The supports didn’t do well either. Svoboda played “only” 20 minutes and scored 8 points. Walton was too surprised by the decision of the referees, he hit only six out of fifteen free throws.
On the other hand, key men pulled the sun. It was led by Nichols, who scored 28 points and added 5 assists. Autrey was second with 21 points. “I would really like to congratulate my players on the way they were able to transfer our adjusted game plan to today’s game. It was clear that we were well prepared for this. It is not easy to change something so quickly and apply it on the field. Our guys did it. We started playing with a huge effort, which we lacked especially in the second game in the series. If we fulfill our plan, then we can win against the Děčín fighters on their board,” stated Šotnar.

The Děčín team always took a little breather after the change of sides, but Sluneta strangled them again and watched the match comfortably. “We didn’t show a performance worthy of the playoffs. There’s a dog buried in it. If we keep going like this, we won’t win anything. Bad shooting? That’s a joint vessel. If we don’t have good movement, it can’t fall for us there. After the very successful match in Ústí, we thought how good we were. It punished us a lot,” added Grepl.
On Wednesday, the game will be played again in Děčín from 6 p.m. On the turn are the Warriors, who do not want to return to Ústí with a score of 1:3. “We came for one victory and that’s what we got. We would like to take advantage of the current situation on Wednesday. We made changes in defense and offense that worked. But we have to prepare for the fact that Děčín has 24 hours to react. What worked for us today may not work tomorrow,” concluded Šotnar.
