The spokesman of the President of the Republic Jiří Ovčáček got married unexpectedly on Friday after several months of dating. The information was brought by the Blesk newspaper with reference to a source close to the Castle, stating that it was a ceremony in a narrow circle of closest friends.
According to Blesk, Jiří Ovčáček’s wife is of Ukrainian origin, and the couple should have met in the spring of this year, when the president’s spokesman hosted her at his place as part of refugee aid.
Through the marriage, the spokesman of the Castle also acquired a preschool-age stepson. The newlywed couple is now supposed to be on their honeymoon in the Czech Republic. President Miloš Zeman should have known about the wedding all along and supported Ovčáček in his decision.
The Echo24 editorial team contacted Jiří Ovčáček with questions about the wedding, but he did not respond to the questions.
