It was announced on Thursday at a family conference. Currently, employees pay 7.1 percent from their assessment base, i.e. essentially from gross wages. Another part is paid for by employers.

If the people’s proposal were to pass, childless people over 35 would pay 9.1 percent. People with two children then 6.1 percent and with three or more 5.1 percent.

“We want to go to coalition negotiations with this, we are kicking the ball,” said Benjamin Chinchila from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. This is led by the chairman of the People’s Party, Marian Jurečka. It will not be a proposal of the Ministry, but of the KDU-ČSL.

The reason why people reach for this is more support for families with children. “Education of a child, if we include, for example, sunar or rings, costs up to four million crowns,” said KDU-ČSL MP Michal Kohajda.

Higher discounts for children

Therefore, according to them, tax credits for children should also be increased. Lidovci propose three variants. According to the first, it would increase by 1,200 for the first child, 2,400 for the second, and 3,600 for the third and subsequent ones. “When you add it up, the savings for a family with three children is 7,200 crowns,” Kohajda said.

In the third, maximum variant, it would be an increase of 2,400 for the first child, 4,800 for the second, and 7,200 crowns for the third and subsequent ones. The savings for the same family would be CZK 14,400.

The people estimate the cost to the state of discounts at six billion crowns.
