According to the Russian RBC server, the Ukrainian army is behind the drone attacks, which was later confirmed by a source from the Ukrainian Security Intelligence Service (DIU) for the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda. “A military target in Ryazan was hit. There is considerable damage to it,” the source said.

Governor Pavel Malkov also informed about the drone attack in the Ryazan region, but did not talk about the damage to the refinery. “The Ryazan region was attacked by drones. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties,” Malkov said on Telegram.

As a result of the drone attack, a fire broke out in the local oil refinery, which was reported by the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda. According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out around three o’clock in the morning, which is also the time when Malkov’s post was published. Witnesses said a “hum” was heard first, followed by two explosions.

Drones also attacked Russia’s Voronezh region overnight on Wednesday. After one o’clock in the morning, the governor of the region, Alexandr Gusev, informed about the air alert in the region. He later stated that the air defense managed to shoot down all the drones.

“A total of three drones were detected and shot down in the region overnight (Wednesday), according to updated data, including one in the suburbs of Voronezh. There are no victims at the scene,” Gusev said on Telegram, later clarifying in another post that falling drone debris damaged three houses.
