“NATO Allies express deep concern about Russian hybrid activities that pose a threat to the security of the Alliance,” the statement said. According to NATO, Russia’s harmful activities consist of sabotage, disinformation campaigns, acts of violence or cyber attacks. The statement points to recent events that have led to the initiation of investigations or the detention of persons in NATO member states. He explicitly mentions the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Britain.
“We condemn Russia’s actions and call on it to abide by its international obligations, as allies (in NATO) do,” the statement continued. The document states that NATO wants to continue to strengthen resilience against such threats and that “Russian activities will not deter allies from further assistance to Ukraine.”
Last week, British authorities laid charges against two men from central England suspected of having links to Russian intelligence.
