OLOMOUC – On Tuesday, May 21, the unique documentary film Roller Coaster will premiere in Olomouc. The film is about people who have entered their lives with borderline personality disorder (BPD). The director of this film, Jonáš Motyčka, suffers from this diagnosis himself and would like to contribute to society not looking down on these people.
Jonáš Motyčka’s unique documentary film Roller Coaster is about people, in whose lives borderline personality disorder (BPD) entered their lives. “The roller coaster is a unique work that aims to destigmatize mental illness – nothing like it has yet been created in the Czech Republic,” says director Jonáš, who himself suffers from a diagnosis of OCD and also has the role of a guide to four stories in the film. Rebeka, Taisa and Kuba – three names of young people who were forced to adapt their lives to their diagnosis, complement the story of Martina, who as the fourth actor of the film enters the plot as a person whose fate is connected to borderline disorder in a different way. Martina represents a group of loved ones – her daughter took her own life because of this diagnosis. “In the film, through interviews and documenting their environment, we will show what it’s like to have a life interwoven with this disease – at the same time, we want to give hope that fighting HPO will pay off,” concludes Jonáš.

The film debuted last September in the hopelessly sold-out BIO OKO cinema in Prague, and the creators soon started a tour throughout the Czech Republic. They have already been to Ostrava, Kadan, Hradec Králové, Opava, Brno, Liberec, Plzeň and České Budějovice, and they are going to Bratislava and Brno. On Tuesday On May 21, they will visit Olomouc, the film will premiere in the Metropol cinema.
