WC hockey | This will not please the fans, Slovaks write about the prices of beer at the World Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic

--

The organizers are already in full swing with the preparations of the premises, where there will be souvenir stands, large screens, entertainment and refreshments. The answer to the traditional question about the price of beer is already clear.

Of course, debates about whether it is too much, just enough, or perhaps not enough were immediately sparked on the Internet. In Slovakia, from where thousands of fans arrive mainly in Ostrava, they mention that the amount of fans will probably annoy them.

The price set in arenas and fan zones is in any case higher than the current regular price in Czech pubs. No surprise. That’s how it is at top events. For addition, the price for Pilsen refers to a pint, the price for Staropramen 0.4 l.

In Slovakia, they indicate that it is certainly not enough.

“The price of beer will not please the fans too much,” writes the website cas.sk a week before the start of the championship.

There will be a lot of Slovak fans in Ostrava in the first part of the championship, the national team there is already sold out.

“The resulting amount came from a careful analysis of prices at similar top events at home and abroad,” explains Petr Bříza, the head of the organizers.

A year ago at the World Cup in Riga, a beer cost six euros (approx. 150 crowns), and in Finland it was even almost three euros more.

At the recent biathlon championship in Nové Město in Moravia, a beer in a tent with refreshments cost 90 kroner, at a cyclocross in Tábor 130.

The capacity of the fan zone in Prague should be 7,000 people, in Ostrava 5,000 visitors, and entry is free. Payments will be made through a cashless system.
