Sparta’s talent ended up in the operating room, the club files a protest against the referee

The moment that seemed to end the season for the 19-year-old midfielder happened in the 78th minute. Kroměříž’s captain Tomáš Matoušek flew into the aerial battle like a broken wagon. He hit Horák in the back of the head, he immediately fell to the ground and an ambulance had to come for him.

Opočenský awarded a yellow card for the intervention. The record states that the injury occurred after a head-on collision. But the Prague community has a different opinion. It aims to protect the health of not only its players.

“Raw game. Elbowing player #37 (Horák) in the back of the head using enormous intensity and power. Immediate transfer to the hospital with the need for surgery the day after the match with the diagnosis: a fractured skull bone,” declares Sparta.

She also didn’t like one verdict from the first half. In the 28th minute, Kroměříž striker Jan Silný finished off Sparta’s full-back Lukáš Váňa without the ball, the head referee also drew a yellow card from his pocket.

“Gross unsportsmanlike conduct, intentional kicking of player No. 18 (Váňa) without the possibility of playing the ball,” wrote Sparta.

“We file a protest against the double obvious misconduct of HR Vojtěch Opočenský. The referee did not punish the reckless, unsportsmanlike and crude behavior of the players of the home team and did not award a CK, even though it was a health-threatening intervention. One of the described acts had a critical impact on the health of our young player,” complain Letenský, who would like disciplinary proceedings to be initiated against Silný and Matoušek.

However, the duel did not end without expulsion. Kroměříž tied the score at 3:3 in the tenth minute of regulation, and Matoušek then celebrated with his hands and knocked Vojtěch Hranoš to the ground, who a few moments before had scored the leading goal to make it 2:3. Dalibor Večerka decided to avenge his partner with the same coin.

Both he and Matoušek took a close look at the red card. Now it remains to be decided whether the previous situations will also have an impact and whether the above-mentioned interventions of Matoušek and Silný will also be discussed with the disciplinary officer.
