Milan Klouček headed to České Budějovice, Samuel Hlavaj signed a two-year rookie contract with Minnesota in the NHL, so Pilsen was forced to look for a new goalkeeper duo for next season. He already has one of the goalkeepers.

“Due to Samuel Hlavaj’s swift transfer to the NHL at a fairly late stage of the transfer period, we had to quickly find a replacement. Dávid comes to us from Liberec, with whom we finally agreed. He is a young promising goalkeeper who can show what he has. I believe that he will be an adequate replacement for Samuel,” says Pilsen goalkeeper coach Rudolf Pejchar.

The nearly 190-centimeter-tall native of Považská Bystrica moved to the Czech Republic a year ago after seven seasons spent overseas. The Slovakian representative, who was chosen by Los Angeles for the NHL in 2018, played 15 games for the White Tigers in the extra league regular season last season. In the playoffs, he added six duels with a success rate of practically 92.6 percent.

Plzeň, which on Monday introduced Josef Jandač as the new coach for the fired Petr Kořínek, after the end of the year, already strengthened the attackers Jakub Klepiš, Christophe Lalancette and Olivier Archambault or the defender Igor Merežko. In addition to Hlavaj and Klouček, defender Martin Bučko and forwards Aleksi Rekonen, Jakub Pour and Petr Straka left.
