Gasparinová has been competing in the World Cup for many years. She debuted among the elite in the 2012/13 season. Throughout her career, she has also been devoted to the issue of anorexia, which drove her into the arms of experts less than ten years ago.

The problems of the two-time participant of the Olympic Games began during the preparation for the games under five rings in Sochi. “It was a lot of pressure, there was a lot of competition in the team. We looked into each other’s plates and watched who was eating, when, what and how much. It was almost like a competition to see who would have the least on the table,” Gasparinová admitted.

The life of the young competitor at the time revolved around biathlon and food, or rather food that she does not indulge in. “When I got hungry, I thought I should eat something, but then I realized I didn’t really want to,” she said, adding that her thinking about food was twisted. “I just kept thinking about how to eat even less,” she added.

Her problems culminated after the Olympic Games in Sochi, where her best result was 31st place in the pursuit and eighth place with the relay. “At some point, I didn’t feel hungry anymore. I was neither full nor hungry – no matter how much I ate. That’s actually pretty crazy.’

It all came to a head during a training camp in 2015, during which Gasparinová collapsed. “It took me an hour to even find enough energy to go to the bathroom,” the competitor described the worst moment. It was clear that he would have to take a break from playing sports for some time and that this would not be possible without professional help.

She traveled to Mexico, where she tried to regain a healthy relationship with food, and after returning, she turned to the Institute for Nutritional Diagnostics. “Within a few months, I managed to go from a state where I only thought about food 24 hours a day to a daily routine where I no longer know what I ate in the morning,” concluded Gasparinová, who twice finished fourth in the relay World Cup last year crossbar.
