Good Festival brings sustainable fashion and a number of celebrities to OC Westfield Chodov

Luxury second-hand fashion items, designer workshops, themed competitions, exchange shops, so-called swap parties and many other interesting events await Westfield Chodov customers in the first half of May. All this with one common denominator – sustainable fashion.

“We would like to prove to all our customers that sustainable fashion is no longer just recycled T-shirts. Nowadays, it is possible to acquire a diverse range of attractive modern wardrobe pieces while remaining in line with the idea of ​​sustainability. Come and see for yourself at our unique Good Festival“, she stated Kateřina Kleslovamarketing manager of the Westfield Chodov shopping center.

The event is taking place across all Westfield shopping centers in Europe. The aim is to show and introduce visitors to projects, brands and luxury secondhand that they cannot normally find in a shopping centre, as well as to inspire more responsible shopping.

Workshops and space experience

The program will include designer workshops that will focus on sustainable fashion. “Experts will show visitors that so-called slow fashion is anything but boring and tacky. They give advice on how to change shopping habits or build your wardrobe from sustainable products. It will also be possible to view products from Czech up-and-coming and renowned designers and discover how sustainable clothing is created from local, ecological or recycled materials“, says Kateřina Kleslová.

The exhibition of budding Czech designers will present sustainable fashion from Aleš Hnátek, Johana Skálova, AFKA brand Vendula Niklova and On the boat Jana Hořejší. For those who want to save or pass on pieces that are just sitting in their closet, a swap party is just the thing. The so-called swapping is not possible at Westfield Chodov without the musical accompaniment of SaxoFrancis and a stylist who will advise visitors directly during the purchase.

“We also have extra services for visitors, such as the treatment of leather accessories, which will extend their life“, adds Kleslová. Among other things, visitors will be able to have their sneakers cleaned by Samuel Kučera, who is a well-known expert in cleaning shoes for celebrities in Slovakia.

The main guest of the opening ceremony of the festival will be Ilan Eshkeri, a British film music composer, who will present his latest film project Space Station Earth. Viewers will thus have an exclusive chance to look at the planet Earth through the eyes of an astronaut, to remember how important our home is and that even the Earth needs to be looked after and cared for. As a bonus, they will be able to enjoy the music of one of the most diverse and innovative British composers today. The film celebrating planet Earth will have its official premiere at Cinema City on May 2 and will be shown to visitors only in two reruns.

The Good Festival in the Westfield Chodov shopping center will take place from 3 to 15 May 2024.

What exactly is sustainable fashion?

The principle of fashion, which is also called slow fashion, is the minimization of waste, recycling, the use of environmentally friendly materials and the reduction of the carbon footprint. “Instead of throwing the clothes away, we use them for further production, sell them secondhand or exchange them for something else,” explains slow fashion influencer Kamila Vodochodská and entices visitors: “Do you long for designer fashion but want to save nature? You will definitely have a choice in the luxury secondhand goods at the Good Festival! And if your closet is overflowing, but your wallet is empty, join the swap party.”

Swap, operating on the principle of barter, is an excellent way to get rid of excess things and buy new ones. In addition, visitors to the Good Festival also have the opportunity to bring old denim to the collection for further use and receive an interesting reward.
