Two days before the start of the U-18 World Cup, its participants finished the program of preparatory matches. It cannot be said that they would tell us much…

Seven matches were played on Finnish soil before the start of the WC, only the Czech national team did not participate in a single one. The last one offered the biggest surprise: The Norwegians, who have to fight for bare survival again, leveled the battle with Canada from 1:3 to 3:3 and fell only in overtime!

And before that, the maple leaves clearly defeated Finland 5:1, and Norway lost to Kazakhstan in a possible vanguard of the rescue race 3:4 after raids.

Norway’s goals against Canada:

Home Suomi, on the other hand, swept Switzerland 7-0, the Swedes defeated Latvia 4-0. The Slovaks won the game against the Swiss thanks to the turn from 1:2 to 3:2, but the duel between the United States and Sweden offered the most attractive spectacle.

In the U18 category, these are probably the biggest rivals right now. They met twice in a row in the finals, where the Swedes celebrated last year (6:4) and the Americans last year (3:2 after extra time). Their preliminary match offered thirteen goals, a 3-0 USA lead, Sweden’s turn to 3-4, but then the final turn of the overseas team to 8-5.

Edit of the match Switzerland – Finland:

Below you will also find an overview of the matches from the April camps. The Czech youngsters, whose squad was formed gradually, played four balanced matches at home against Latvia and Slovakia, of which they lost the first one after raids and won the other three.

In addition, the Slovaks and Latvians competed with Poland, a participant in the fourth world group. The fact that the Poles subsequently moved up a division cannot overshadow the miserable results of the elite participants. The Swiss also competed against their compatriots a year older, who then went to the tournament of five countries of the new 20 in Poprad.
