Eva Michalíková, PČR spokesperson: “According to preliminary information, the driver of the tractor transporting the tank should have stopped on the highway in the right lane, a passenger vehicle stopped behind it, when a truck transporting cars ran into it. There is one person on the scene who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”
According to HZS MSK spokesperson Kamila Langerová, the road was closed due to the investigation of the accident. 3 professional firefighting units are on the scene, along with police officers and paramedics. The LZS Ostrava helicopter was also dispatched to the scene.
Lukáš Humpl, spokesman for the ZZS MSK: “The rescuers could no longer help one person, who remained wedged in the crashed car, and the doctor had to declare her dead. A middle-aged man had to be rescued, he showed signs of impaired consciousness and a state of shock, his life was in direct danger. He suffered multiple injuries. Rescuers put him into artificial sleep, secured his airway and switched him to machine-controlled ventilation. After administration of medication, he was airlifted to Ostrava General Hospital in critical condition. A middle-aged man with a slight injury to his lower limb was also transported to the same medical facility.”
Kamila Langerová, HZS MSK spokesperson: “The firemen rescued one person using a hydraulic rescue device, who was handed over to the rescuers, and they used a sorbent for the leaked operating fluids. The accident is currently being investigated by the PČR.”
Lukáš Popp, spokesman for the HZS MSK: “Work to remove the crashed vehicles is still ongoing at the site. Currently, the tank that was on one of the trucks was taken away, and at the moment the towing services will deal with the towing of the trucks.”
The highway in the direction of Poland remains impassable.
