“We have a lot of wrestlers and this (dismissals / termination of cooperation) will become more and more frequent. We will be releasing some wrestlers. I think there will be a wave next week. Nothing else can be done about it. You just have to prune the tree to keep it healthy. At the same time, you have to give those guys a chance to build a career somewhere.

It’s moved very quickly and some of the guys we have there are not able to accept the challenges that we put in front of them. Or we don’t like it because they want a lot of money but, to put it bluntly, they don’t sell and they’re not searchable and interesting. It is necessary to show that you are not just some bank that you go to for money and it doesn’t matter how you act,” promoter Novotný announced in his broadcast the first major wave of layoffs and termination of cooperation.

As already mentioned in the introduction, there is a limited number of tournaments and therefore also match slots, which OKTAGON manages to partially solve through cooperation with PML and other organizations where fighters can wrestle. However, according to the voices coming from the fighters backstage, it is getting harder and harder to get an OCTAGON match as plans are made well in advance. However, we now know a large part of the starting lineups for the next 3 tournaments in Frankfurt, Prague and Bratislava, where there are only a minimum of places left, so the next possibility to wrestle is now only in August or September, which is relatively too long. Some roster trimming is thus an inevitable step that can ultimately be beneficial for all parties.
