The second league club announced the change in the ownership structure of Zbrojovka on its website today. Zábranský agreed with the current owner Václav Bartoňek to take over an eighty percent share.
“We have long-standing ties with Václav Bartoňek, both clubs are and must be in symbiosis. In the past, Vašek helped Komet, so it is logical that I will now help Zbrojovce. The aim is to create synergy between the two clubs and fulfill the potential. In the future, the idea of building a joint training center is also proposed, which could significantly advance the youth in particular. But I don’t want to overtake too much, we have to go step by step,” said Zábranský on the Zbrojovka website.
The fact that Bartoněk should leave the club has been talked about since last summer, when Zbrojovka was relegated from the top league. Negotiations took place for a long time with Pavel Svoren, the head of the investment group Portiva, which acquired a minority stake in the club last year. The news about the takeover of the club by Zábranský was therefore unexpected for the fans.
Zábranský is not only the long-time owner of the hockey team Kometa, but also a Brno representative from September 2022. He got into the municipality for the coalition of ODS and TOP 09, which governs the city together with ANO, Lidovci, Starosty and Social Democrats.
