(TRENČÍN, from our reporter) Among the new reinforcements of the national team for the camp in Slovakia, the greatest response is being received. Jakub Vrána has the upper hand, but after the controversy of the season, he will have to fight for a place at the World Championship. In Trenčín, however, he made a great debut.

Crow? That’s who has half a point per game in Washington. Well, not for a long time. In recent years, the talented attacker has been working abroad. He didn’t catch on in Detroit, he only played in twenty-one games (2+4) for the Blues this year. He spent the rest of the season on the farm.

“I’m fine. I went straight to the first practice and I feel good. So far, I don’t feel anything that could affect my performance,” Vrána assured.

He has represented at three championships so far. The last time was the year before last in Tampere, where it wasn’t the same. Kari Jalonen’s style did not suit the skilled “wild boar” very well. In more offensive hockey under Radim Rulík, his talent could show up significantly more.

“I think our line created enough chances. We were quick on the puck.”

“I think our line created enough chances. We were quick on the puck. Of course there are things that need to be tweaked. After all, it was our first game together like this,” Vrána described the cooperation with Filip Chlapík and David Tomášek in the second attack.

The jet leg passed, there was no sign of fatigue or nervousness on Vránov. He flew spectacularly into the match and in the 13th minute, thanks to him, the Czechs raised their hands above their heads for the first time.

“George (Ticháček, editor’s note) he found me nicely. I drove between the defenders and the pass came at the right time when I was just behind the fullback. Then all I had to do was pick up speed,” praised Ticháček for his brilliant pass.

“You could see that they were at home and had an appetite.”

The end of the first period, 3:0, everything is going smoothly. In the first half of the middle part, however, the Czechs had to go to the penalty spot three times. For some, it’s a more demanding shift, for others it’s freezing on the switcher. “There were a lot of suspensions in the second period, so there wasn’t even time to look at the ice,” lamented Vrána.

In one of the overtimes, the Slovaks struck and reduced the final score to 4:2 even after Zábranský’s shot into an empty net. Craig Ramsey’s selection didn’t let anything go and went all the way to the last second. “You could see that they were at home and had an appetite. They have a couple of skilled players in the team who can assert themselves, which they confirmed,” Vrána praised the opponent’s commitment.

In the final exhibition raids, he was the architect of a curious situation. Although the puck got into the goal, the referees still waved it off.

“I wouldn’t admit it either,” Vrána laughed. “I did a loop and it jumped a bit. That’s when I got over the line, when I shot, it bounced off the concrete and into the goal. I started to doubt and the referee saw it. If I hadn’t done anything, maybe he would have recognized it,” he concluded.
