Prospective striker Jakub Konečny is expected to return to his parent Kometa, the Moravian club confirmed his return on the official website. Further information about the contract has not been released.
“I was really looking forward to it. I am happy to be at home, where I was born and raised. I know a lot of people here, I have my whole family and many friends here. Wonderful feelings,” beams the 21-year-old.
This closes the circle – at least for the moment. In Brno, Konečný went through the youth categories up to youth, then via Žďár nad Sázavou he got to the Sparta academy. And after playing in Litoměřice or Sokolov, he won a permanent place in the Prague lineup.
Since then, he has made 133 starts in the extra league, this year he is signed under a bronze medal. However, with the vision of a more important role, he decided to leave Sparta, he will continue his promising career with one of his main rivals.

“They made fun of me, but that’s part of it. When you come to a club from a city where there is some rivalry, you can never avoid it. I, in turn, taught them hantec,” Konečný remembers how in Prague he struggled with the stigma of being a drifter from Brno.
Now, years later, he appears on the opposite side of the barricade. Still a Buffalo Sabers prospect, the road to overseas is currently closed for the energetic forward. “Just a few days ago, they called me from Buffalo and told me that I won’t get a contract,” he revealed to the Sparta website last week.
“It’s hard to sign for them at the moment, because they don’t make the playoffs, they have an awful lot of contracts for young players. They said that it wasn’t about my lack of performance, but that they needed to see a little more game practice,” Konečný added.
