Chelsea will leave Thiago Silva after four years, whose contract expires at the end of June. The 39-year-old Brazilian stopper should return to his mother Fluminense.
“Chelsea means a lot to me. I came with the intention of staying here for one year, but it ended up being four years. Not only for me, but also for my family.” said goodbye to Silva, who won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup during that period with the Blues.
“I think I’ve always given my best in everything I’ve done in these four years here. But unfortunately everything has a beginning and an end. But that doesn’t mean this is the final end. I hope to keep the door open, to be able to return here in the near future, albeit in a different role. I can only thank you.” said the former Brazil international, whose sons are at Chelsea’s academy, where he could work in the future.
Silva has made 151 competitive appearances for Chelsea since joining from Paris Saint-Germain, scoring nine times. The former Brazilian international is a constant in the starting line-up.
