Red Bull confirmed yesterday that Adrian Newey will retire at the start of next year. According to Ralf Schumacher, this is not the last departure from the team.

“Red bull is falling apart and the sole responsibility for the collapse of Red Bull lies with Christian Horner, who is holding on to power,” Ralf Schumacher told Germany’s Sky.

“It’s actually that Christian Horner assumes he doesn’t need all these people around him.”

According to Schumacher, Horner is confident he has a “better idea” of “how Formula 1 or his team should look and he also has full support, especially from Thailand. And they have the majority on the whole thing. That’s why it is the way it is now.’

According to Schumacher, more people will follow Newey. “Max Verstappen will leave the team. Along with other good engineers going elsewhere, some of them with Adrian Newey.’

Schumacher is clear about where Newey will head. “I believe that in 2026 a Ferrari designed by Adrian Newey will be driving.”

I give Red Bull two more years

He believes Verstappen “has other options” despite being under contract until 2028. The reigning world champion is known to be wanted by Mercedes. For Schumacher, it is no longer a question of if, but only when: “Will it happen next year or the year after? But I’m sure he will leave Red Bull.”

“I’m giving Red Bull two more years and if they stick with Horner the team will sink into mediocrity. I am absolutely sure of it.’
