Revenge of Schick et al. Leverkusen dreams of a treble, they have to get past AS Roma

--

Excited Leverkusen pays for the double-header favourite. In addition to winning the title for the champion of Germany, he also reached the final of the domestic cup and looks forward to winning three trophies in one season. The rivals from Rome are fifth in the domestic league and the Europa League is their last chance for significant team success.

It was a very close affair a year ago. Leverkusen faced the Romans in the semi-finals of the Europa League, just like this year. After the results of 0:1 and 0:0, AS went to the finals, and under the leadership of José Mourinho, they literally crushed the opponent in a goalless rematch.

The Bundesliga winner from Leverkusen is having the season of a lifetime, he hasn’t lost even once. Therefore, they feel the perfect opportunity to settle accounts.

“Everyone at the club remembers how it was last year. We deserved to advance. Each of us wants revenge,” said Czech forward Patrik Schick at the pre-match press conference.

In addition, it will be a rather specific duel for the national team scorer. He worked in the Roman club for two seasons between 2017 and 2019. However, he missed the last strength test due to health reasons.

“It’s good to be back. Especially when I couldn’t play before due to injury. I am also looking forward to seeing my former teammates. Especially coach Daniele De Rossi, who is now doing a very good job in the role of coach,” Schick said.

But the 28-year-old forward will not be the only compatriot affected by the semi-finals. His partner Matěj Kovář, Leverkusen’s cup number one, should appear in goal. Adam Hložek, on the other hand, is still fighting with an injured ankle and will watch the duel only from the stands.
