Red, elimination from the base and speeches from Koubek. However, the support of Pilsen is back and burning for his son

“The celebration belonged to the wife and the son we are expecting. His name will be Miguel, hopefully he will also become a footballer. But that remains to be seen,” smiles Cadu.

The 26-year-old Brazilian had several reasons to be happy. Not only did he open the scoring in Sunday’s duel and contribute to a 3-0 win, but he himself entered Victoria’s scoring list again after more than three months.

“I haven’t scored in a long time. It was difficult, but I worked hard in training and I’m very happy for the hit,” he describes. At the same time, he was experiencing difficult last weeks. Since the red card in the second leg of the Conference League quarter-final at Fiorentina, he has not been in the starting line-up three times in a row. He only returned to it on Sunday with Mlada Boleslaví.

But on the right side, as the left lane was occupied by the 21-year-old Frenchman Cheick Souaré. “The way Souaré presents itself is beautiful. He pushed Cadu, who we noticed was a bit restless, out of position,” outlines coach Miroslav Koubek.

But he told Cadu to keep calm, that the implementation team would rotate the lineup. “He got a little nervous, it affected him. We had a conversation and explained to him that there is no reason to panic, that he is a key player that we are counting on. He responded well. On Sunday, he gave the performance we imagine,” adds the coach.

Cadu himself admits that he did not feel optimal after Fiorentina: “I was a little down. But the boys helped me, I needed time, and with Boleslav, my hard work paid off.”

The father-to-be is filming his first full season in Victoria. Most of last year he was a guest in Baník Ostrava, then he came to Pilsen in the summer of 2022 from Pardubice. And he would finally like a trophy, which he can reach already on May 22 in the MOL Cup final against Sparta.

“It is a great motivation for the whole club. We play at home, everyone in Pilsen wants to win, but the home competition is unfortunately out of reach for us. I won the second league with Pardubice, but this would be the first big trophy in the Czech Republic. I’m really looking forward to it,” Cadu says.

It is quite possible that he will appear in the starting lineup. Just probably on the right again, as Souaré currently has the upper hand. Koubek himself says so, although he admits that the beginnings of the winter training from Vyškov were not optimal.

“We have to commend our scouting department. There was no doubt about it. Souaré needed to adapt in the new environment, especially at the training camp in Spain, the expectations were not met. He also had health problems. However, he has stabilized since returning to the Czech Republic. He is an excellent player with sharp thinking, technique, lightning-quick solution to situations under pressure. We knew that and now it’s starting to sell. He has a great finish even with his right hand. An excellent player,” praises Koubek.
