The Canadians, who have always finished silver behind Team USA at the last three world championships, built a key lead in the second period, in which they scored three times.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. We scored two quick goals in the second period, and that probably broke us,” said Veselý, who is the most productive Czech player at the tournament with four goals and an assist. “Now we have a match against the Americans, who will be big favorites. It will be very difficult. If we want to succeed, we have to convert chances,” Veselý added.
Jakub Novotný’s men are defending their bronze at the championship.
