Technical director Adrian Newey will leave championship-winning Red Bull in early 2025 after eighteen years and thirteen championship titles. The highly successful engineer has not yet commented on his future steps, he first wants to finish his work in the Austrian team. The RB17 hypercar will become an imaginary point behind an impressive story.
“The final stages of the RB17 development are behind us. For the rest of my time with the team, all my energy will be focused on this project,” said Newey, who could still be seen on the track in Miami during the last F1 race weekend. But that will probably change in future Grand Prix.
“Adrian will focus on the final development and presentation of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the much-anticipated RB17,” the team said. And for the first time, she also revealed the premiere date. The anticipated circuit machine will be shown for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, and should reach the first customers before the end of the year.
We still have to wait for the technical details. But it is rumored that the Red Bull RB17 will get a 10-cylinder engine with a magical power of 1000 horsepower, which spins up to 15,000 revolutions per minute! The device should also include an electric motor that will deliver an additional 200 horsepower.
What’s more, the whole thing is supposed to weigh just 900 kilograms, and on the world’s tracks, thanks to its power and downforce, it should overwhelm even modern Formula 1 cars. No wonder it’s going to be a rarity. Red Bull plans to build only 50 examples, each of which will cost 147 million crowns. That is, as well as 2.5 million pint cans of their energy drink.
