You are threatening Europe through Russia, the minister scolded China

--

Officials in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv announced the evacuation of two hospitals on Friday, fearing they could become targets of Russian strikes. Officials announced that one of the hospitals is a children’s hospital. “The city is urgently starting to evacuate two hospitals… because a video is widely circulating online, de facto announcing a hostile attack on these medical facilities,” the Kyiv city administration said.

On the Kyiv Post server drew attention to the statement of the city administration with the fact that the initial information came from Belarus. The enemy believes that the soldiers are using children as human shields, which is why the Russians consider the children’s hospital a legitimate military target.

“Undoubtedly, all of them will suffer the punishment they deserve, even though they chose Kiev hospitals as their lair,” Ivan Tertel, head of the Belarusian KGB, said in a speech broadcast by the state-run Belta news agency. Reuters drew attention to his statement. Belarusian troops are not fighting in the war in Ukraine, but Minsk is a close ally of Moscow and Russian forces have used Belarusian territory as a base for their February 2022 all-out invasion of Ukraine.

The city of Kyiv condemned the claim as “an absolute lie and a provocation by the enemy, who are trying to use it to strike at the capital’s social infrastructure.” “It is an absolute lie and provocation of the enemy, which they are trying to use to attack the social infrastructure of the capital,” the administration wrote on Telegram. For a statement reported the Reuters agency.

“Kyiv authorities are now doing everything to transfer patients and doctors to other medical facilities in the capital,” the administration said. Mayor Vitalij Klitschko said that he visited both hospitals on Friday. “We are doing everything to protect children, their parents, adult patients and staff from a possible attack on these medical facilities that the aggressor has announced,” Klitschko said.

The World Health Organization has recorded at least 1,682 attacks against Ukraine’s health care system since the beginning of the war. These caused 128 deaths and 288 injuries, according to WHO statistics published in early April.

Meanwhile, directly in China, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused the Chinese Communists of supporting the Russian war machine. The BBC drew attention to Blinken’s words. He made clear to his Chinese counterparts that they were “helping to promote the greatest threat” to European security since the Cold War. He did not say what measures the US was prepared to take. Blinken emphasized that progress has been made in some areas. He praised Beijing, for example, for its efforts to stop the supply of the drug fentanyl to the US. Blinken is visiting China for the second time in less than a year, which, according to the BBC, shows that the two current economic superpowers are strengthening lines of communication.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, who met with Blinken in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on Friday afternoon, agreed that the two sides had “made some positive progress” since he met his US counterpart Joe Biden in November. He added that the countries should “be partners, not rivals,” and said that if the U.S. took a “positive view of China’s development,” relations would “really stabilize, improve, and move forward.”

Blinken told the BBC that one key path to “better relations” between China and the US and Europe would be for Beijing “or some of its businesses” to stop providing “critical components” that help Russia produce more munitions. Components include items such as “machine tools, microelectronics and optics”.

“(Beijing) is helping Russia maintain its aggression against Ukraine, but it is also creating a growing threat to Europe because of Russian aggression,” he explained. “We have already taken action against the Chinese entities involved in this,” he said. “And I’m making it clear today that if China doesn’t act, we will.”
