It was not surprising when, at the beginning of the millennium, female representatives often entered matches in worn and ill-fitting jerseys, which were previously worn by male colleagues.
Jan Daněk, the football editor of Sport.cz, added a more than twenty-year-old story to the topic.
“The female soccer players played a qualifier against France in Drnovice, where I served the balls as a pupil. They had bright jerseys, with which the guys probably won silver at Euro 1996,” recalled Daněk. “After the match, I think we ran to Pavlína Ščasna to see if she would give it to us. But she gave us a semi-desperate answer: Guys, I would like to, but I would have to pay for the jersey.”
Until recently, followers of the famous Czech soccer player also experienced similar troubles. “It was one of the things we dealt with several times,” admitted Svitková. “When you play against top teams and top players, we wanted to exchange jerseys with them. It’s a nice custom and keepsake. But we weren’t allowed to do it, because we wouldn’t have anything to play in in the next match in three days.”
Times are evolving, women’s football is on the rise. It is also manifested in the little things represented by the clothing and material equipment of female soccer players. The Czechs can now change jerseys with their opponents as a souvenir.
And Svitková, for example, can celebrate goals in a way that she has seen with more famous football stars. He gestures to his back.
“Finally, we have names on the jerseys,” smiled the Chelsea offensive player, who is visiting Slavia Prague in the spring. “They are bruises, but they show that we are more appreciated as female footballers. But there are x other things, how our football should progress.”
