First he had to dodge the sticking elbow, then he covered himself from the falling skates. They were dramatic moments, a wild sequence of events in one or two seconds. Fortunately, Martin Nečas escaped unhurt. The Czech forward of the Hurricanes didn’t exactly have words of praise for Jacob Trouba, who had prepared some tough moments for him at Carolina.

What was Trouba up to?

So they asked Nečas behind the big puddle. “I guess he wanted to elbow me in the head,” he replied. And then he continued: “Maybe he was trying to protect himself from hitting the bar, but he knows what he’s doing. Everyone knows what kind of player he is.”

He alluded to the unflattering reputation of the New York captain. He is regarded as a dirty man who repeatedly fouls insidiously and extremely dangerously. Or at least trying to. The entire NHL knows about his elbow attacks.

And there are many critics from the ranks of journalists, experts and fans who repeatedly express their displeasure with Trouba’s actions. Next time it could turn out to be quite fatal, this time Trouba and his health “target” escaped.

“We are both fine, fortunately there were no injuries,” Nečas sighed, saying that he is already excited for the third installment of the series that is attractive to the audience, in which the Rangers have won twice so far.

The 25-year-old Šikula is having a good playoff, he already has six points, he scored twice. And he is happy with all his heart that he will be able to add more starts. Thanks to him ducking at a crucial moment.

“At that moment I didn’t even know what had happened,” he admitted, reacting instinctively.

“I saw the whole situation afterwards on the tape, even though I bent down, otherwise it probably wouldn’t have turned out well,” he said. And he sympathetically added: “Trouba flew headfirst into the guardrail. Good for him that nothing happened to him.”

Nečas will undoubtedly watch out for Trouba on the ice, but what if the strong back catches him anyway? “If he hits me clean, no one will have a problem with it,” he concluded with aplomb.
