Red Bull has confirmed that fans will see the RB17 hypercar at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Since its beginnings, Red Bull has designated its cars with the abbreviation RB and a serial number. In 2020, however, the world and Formula 1 were hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The arrival of the new rules was delayed and the teams basically just modified the existing car. The RB16 was followed in 2021 by the RB16B. A year later, the RB18 car arrived, which was already built according to the new rules.

But the number 17 will not remain just a historical curiosity and a memory of the difficult times that befell the world. Red Bull is building the RB17 as a hypercar that everyone will be able to buy. Well, almost everyone…only 50 pieces will be produced and each will cost 5 million pounds (144.7 million crowns).

The car will have a two-seater carbon fiber monocoque chassis, a V10 engine and a carbon fiber gearbox. The RB17 was completely built in-house by Red Bull.

This is Adrian Newey’s last project at Red Bull. He will leave Milton Keynes early next year.

The RB17 will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the RB17 to the public for the first time and we couldn’t imagine a better world stage than the Goodwood Festival of Speed,” said Red Bull boss Christian Horner.

Along with Horner and Newey, David Coulthard and former Minardi F1 driver and Red Bull’s longest-serving exhibition driver Patrick Friesacher will attend the Goodwood opener.

Red Bull will also display a number of F1 cars from its history as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, with several of them taking part in the race

The festival will take place from July 11 to 14.
