The Sparta talent will miss months after the foul. Opponents are dealt with by a disciplinarian

--

The incident, which ended the season for the 19-year-old midfielder Horák, occurred in the 78th minute of the weekend match (3:3) in Kroměříž. Matoušek flew into the aerial duel and hit Horák in the back of the head. He immediately fell to the ground and an ambulance had to come for him.

The record states that the injury occurred after a head-on collision. The Prague team, however, has a different opinion, talking about an elbow strike. Horák suffered a broken skull bone, he underwent surgery on Monday and was moved to the intensive care unit. The moment passed without a card being awarded, subsequently Sparta filed a protest against the performance of the head referee Vojtěch Opočenský.

According to Letenský, the arbitrator “did not punish the reckless, unsportsmanlike and crude behavior of the players of the home team and did not award a CK, even though it was a health-threatening intervention.” At the same time, they demanded that disciplinary proceedings be initiated against Matoušek and his teammate Jan Silný, who finished off Sparta’s defender Lukáš Váňa without the ball.

That happened. “The case of Tomáš Matoušek’s intervention on Roman Horák could be additionally opened by the Disciplinary Commission of the League Football Association on the basis of two factors. First of all, the commission of FAČR referees defined the offense on the part of the Kroměříž defender as a foul that met the attributes of rough play – and the captain of the home team should have been sent off for it,” explains Richard Baček, chairman of the disciplinary body, in a communiqué.

And he continues: “Another, and crucial, fact is that one of the prerequisites described in the Disciplinary Code of the FAČR and the Statute of the DK LFA has been fulfilled and allows the DK LFA to act additionally. In this case, it is the fact that the disciplinary offense on the part of the player Matoušek has serious consequences in the form of an injury to the Sparta Prague B defender, who did not finish the game after a foul and ended up in the hospital, where he had to undergo surgery. His healing time will be in the order of months, which was documented by his club with a medical report.”

At the same time, Matoušek has been temporarily suspended from racing due to his expulsion from the same match, when he knocked Vojtěch Hranoš to the ground during celebrations. Spartan Dalibor Večerka, who went to defend Hranoš and also saw a red card, is also suspended for two matches.

How long can Matoušek, both of whose cases will be dealt with by the disciplinary commission in a joint proceeding at the next meeting, be absent? For example, Jablonec stopper Haiderson Hurtado received an eight-game suspension in the spring for a foul on Hradec midfielder Daniel Kaštánek, who was absent for several weeks due to injury. It was also a rough game, but the disciplinarian later shortened the punishment by two duels.
