The foggy start of the EC brought 5 Czech top ten in short track – European Championship – News

--

In the afternoon, the Elite category took to the racing circuit together with U23, where Jitka Čábelická flashed the top ten. She was one minute and 9 seconds behind the new European champion Pauline Ferrand Prevot (FRA). Among the men, Simon Andreassen (DEN) won.

“Ninth place is great, my first top 10 at a big event,” rejoiced Jitka, who already showed that she came to Romania well prepared with the eighth place in the qualification. “But on the other hand, I’m also very sorry, because for a while I even got to fourth place, but about 3 laps from the finish line, I got a rear tire puncture, probably slow, and luckily I was riding with an inner tube, it saved me… But the last it was already quite familiar, and thanks to that she lost 3 places. Otherwise, the mud baths were great,” Jitka described.

“Jitka deserves a discharge for her performance,” Zapletal praised the most experienced Czech representative. “Unfortunately, the short track did not go as expected for the girls in the U23 category, where a bad start and the subsequent number of small mistakes were limiting for most. Adéla Holubová finished the race in 23rd place and in the individual evaluation she is 9th. Nela Viktorová finished 25th. respectively 11th and Simona Špešná in 27th and 13th place respectively ranking in the top 10! And that is one of the best results of the last few seasons,” added Zapletal.

On Friday, only the relay race is on the program in Romania, in which a total of six national six-member teams, including the Czechs, will go. In the end, Viktor Zapletal formed the Czech six as follows: Jan Sáska, David Friedel, Amálie Gottwaldová, Eliška Hanáková, Adéla Holubová and Jan Zatloukal. In the competition of 14 teams, the Czechs will start with seven on the handlebars, let’s hope she will be happy. Defending champions of last year’s title, the Danes, will start with number one.
