The Czech women’s ice hockey players were far from a sensation, in the semi-finals of the World Championship in Herning they suffered a debacle against the favored team USA 1:10. On Sunday, they will fight for bronze medals with Switzerland, which lost to Canada 1:8 in the second semi-final.
The Americans decided the match already in the first period, in which they beat goalkeeper Klára Peslarová six times.
Amanda Kesselová scored a hat trick for the victory of the overseas players, Taylor Heise, the most productive player of the tournament, collected five points for two goals and three assists. Klára Hymlárová took care of the only Czech goal in the second period.
The Czech Republic appeared in the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time in history, the USA team has never missed a final match.
