Thus, not only artificial intelligence, but now also biotechnology will fundamentally change the current organization and functioning of the IT industry.

So, we are all being massaged from all sides by artificial intelligence today. AI this, AI that, AI that. But the news from MIT University, where scientists have managed to create a colony of ants that works as a biotechnological computer, or basically an artificial (but living) brain, completely fell into place. After all, the brain is a damn powerful computer too. The point is that a single ant has barely a few neurons for its basic functions. Find food, bring it to the nest and, in case of emergency, have to fight (ants are quite organized). But when there are millions of these ants and they all work on the same task, suddenly the computing capacity increases a million times.

The hardest part for the scientists was figuring out how to give the ants a task to work on and then extract the result from it. They finally found a way using pheromones. By trial and error, they found out what odors made the ants do certain actions and gradually worked their way up to more and more complex operations. It went so far that the ant’s focused intellect could create a holographic projection. In the laboratory and with the help of genetic modifications, the ants were also equipped with photon emitters in the manner of fireflies. In the end, they also present the results of the tasks to the scientists, because an ant simply won’t tell you them over a beer. The concentrated ant power is at least a thousand times more powerful than today’s consumer processor type i9-14900KS, so we have a lot to look forward to. So if we ever see the mass deployment of ant processors.
