Tesla is changing prices again. Model 3 attacks a million, Model Y adds a longer range – VTM.cz

In most regions, on a pair of smaller models. This time it also reached the Czech Republic. Model 3 is cheaper by 50 thousand crowns for both variants.

Model Y increases in price by the same amount and a fourth version is added Tesla Model 3 Long Range with rear-wheel drive, which is interesting with a range increased to 600 km. We don’t know the performance, but compared to the basic Y, the novelty is one second faster from 0 to 100 km/h (6.9 → 5.9 s). In addition, it can handle higher charging power (170 → 250 kW).

Tesla is changing the price list again. The best-selling Model Y is now 120,000 cheaper, larger models are getting more expensive

The price war boosted sales on their way to new records and had a devastating effect on sales for some competitors. Today we continue with another change in the price list, but this time we cannot talk about general discounting…

The Model 3 maintains its prices after a recent upgrade. A long-time bestseller Model Y is getting cheaper – basic variant and Long Range by 120 thousand, Y Performance by less than 100 thousand. On the contrary Model S and Y are getting more expensive by 30 or 80 thousand crowns according to the following key:

• Model 3: CZK 1,053,990 (no change)
• Model 3 Long Range: CZK 1,253,990 (no change)
• Models: 1,165,490 CZK → 1,044,900 CZK (minus 120,590 CZK, 10%)
• Model Y Long Range: 1,355,490 CZK → 1,234,900 CZK (minus 120,590 CZK, 9%)
• Model Y Performance: 1,455,990 CZK → 1,358,900 CZK (minus 97,090 CZK, 7%)
• Model S: 2,289,900 CZK → 2,319,900 CZK (price increase by 30 thousand, 1.3%)
• Model S Plaid: CZK 2,649,900 → CZK 2,679,900 (price increase by CZK 30,000, 1.1%)
• Model X: 2,409,900 CZK → 2,489,900 CZK (price increase by 80 thousand, 3.2%)
• Model X Plaid: 2,769,900 CZK → 2,849,900 CZK (increase in price by 80 thousand, 2.8%)

Tesla is making it cheaper again, this time also in the Czech Republic. Prices drop by up to 236,000 crowns

Revived on April 15, 2023 | Tesla is serious about the price war. It’s getting cheaper again, again by quite a few percent and this time also in the Czech Republic.

• Model 3: CZK 1,099,990 –> CZK 1,028,990 (minus 71 thousand, or 6.5%)
• Model 3 Long Range: 1,299,990 CZK –> 1,228,990 CZK (minus 71 thousand, 5.5%)
• Model 3 Performance: 1,459,990 CZK –> 1,317,990 CZK (minus 142 thousand, 10%)
• Model Y and Y Long Range: prices remain unchanged
• Model Y Performance: 1,549,990 CZK –> 1,445,990 CZK (minus 104 thousand, 7%)
• Model S: 2,877,900 CZK –> 2,641,900 CZK (minus 236 thousand8%)
• Model S Plaid: 3,465,900 CZK –> 3,229,900 CZK (minus 236 thousand, 7%)
• Model X: 3,080,900 CZK –> 2,641,900 CZK (minus 236 thousand, 8%)
• Model X Plaid: 3,551,900 CZK –> 3,315,900 CZK (minus 236 thousand, 7%)

The January discounts obviously worked, Tesla sold more cars in the Czech Republic in the first quarter of 2023 than in the entire year of 2022. Will the April discounts have a similar effect?

Tesla wants to eliminate the competition. After less than two months, it is cheaper again

Revived March 6, 2023 | Automakers around the world are raising prices, so when Tesla announced a price cut of up to 23% on January 13, it was quite a shock. Not even two months have passed and Tesla is making it cheaper again.

Not so strongly anymore and so far only in the home USA. The January prices remain on the Czech website and it is not known if they will change. In America, according to Electrek, the changes look like this:

• The prices of models 3 and Y have undergone only cosmetic changes (the first became cheaper, the second more expensive).
• Model S Long Range AWD: $94,990 -> $89,990 (5% off)
• Model S Tri-Motor Plaid: $114,990 -> $109,990 (4% off)
• Model X Long Range AWD: $109,990 -> $99,990 (9% off)
• Model X Tri-Motor Plaid: $119,990 -> $109,990 (8% off)

This leads to an interesting situation where the S and X in the angry Plaid versions cost the same, while the lower versions differ by 10 thousand dollars.

We can look at the second wave of discounting in the way that Tesla is just returning the prices that were valid before. The Covid crisis meant a gradual increase in prices, now we are returning to approximately the price level of the summer of 2021. However, this does not change anything about inflation and competition with higher prices – the second price reduction of Tesla in a short time will be a hard blow for them.

Tesla in the Czech Republic discounts up to 23%. Model Y is cheaper than Skoda Enyaq

Original article from January 13, 2023 | Basic version of Model 3 for 1,099,990 CZK, Model Y for 1,159,900 CZK. At the same time, the latter cost 1,499,990 CZK at the summer premiere. That’s a discount of almost 23%.

Tesla is discounting in China, home America and Europe, according to agency reports, discounts range from units of percent to 20%. The Czech Republic is therefore at the upper limit, in the above case even above it.

While the classic car manufacturers tend to increase their prices, Tesla has made them cheaper by leaps and bounds, and the Model 3 thus meets the well-equipped Škoda Octavia on the market out of the blue. With a starting price of CZK 1,198,900, the Enyaq electric car from Mladoboleslav is more expensive, but comparable in size.

Reasons for falling prices

Tesla is discounting as it needs to boost sales that fell short of expectations last year. At the same time, the company announced that it will temporarily suspend the project to double the production capacity of the Shanghai gigafactory. This can be explained by the strengthening competition on the Chinese market, Tesla no longer expects significant growth on the market there. The number of Teslas sold in China in December was the lowest in the second half of the year.
