Gasoline keeps getting more expensive – News

--

Gasoline is now 2.71 crowns more expensive per liter than a year ago, while motorists paid 5.54 crowns less for diesel at that time. The price of gasoline rose above 40 crowns per liter last week, for the first time since last October. Diesel is now the most expensive since last November.

According to Purple Trading analyst Petr Lajsko, high oil prices and seasonal factors are still reflected in current fuel prices. “From April, the motorcycling season officially starts, and summer is unstoppably approaching. This significantly increases the demand for gasoline in particular, which is gradually reflected in its price,” said Lajsek.

In connection with the oil market, he reminded that the current price of oil is still above average, despite a slight decrease in recent days, because it reflected geopolitical tensions and restrictions on oil exports from Russia.

Gasoline already costs over 40 crowns in most regions. And the price will rise

Because of this, Lajsek expects further increases in gasoline prices. “In the next week, the average price will exceed the level of CZK 40.50 per liter. Growth above CZK 41 by the end of May is also not excluded,” he pointed out. On the contrary, according to him, the price of diesel could stabilize thanks to seasonal factors. “Probably, there could even be a slight correction in diesel prices, the average could again fall below CZK 39 by the end of May, and the price gap between diesel and gasoline may open again,” added Lajsek.

XTB analyst Jiří Tyleček also sees the potential for cheaper diesel. According to him, the current development on the wholesale market could lead to a price drop of up to two crowns. “However, the spring increase in margins in supply chains will probably prevent a significant price drop,” he pointed out. At the same time, he pointed out that the weak Czech crown continues to have a negative impact on fuel prices in the Czech Republic.

The cheapest gasoline is filled by drivers in the Ústí Region, where a liter costs 40.02 CZK on average. Diesel is the cheapest in the Hradec Králové region, a liter is sold there for an average of CZK 38.62. Conversely, the most expensive fuels are traditionally offered by pumps in Prague, where a liter of gasoline costs an average of CZK 41.26. Diesel fuel costs CZK 40.26 per liter in the capital.
