Leeds United suffered defeat away at Queens Park Rangers on Friday evening, with the home side comfortably taking the three points at Loftus Road.

Opening the scoring after just eight minutes, the hosts scored with their first effort on goal. Ilias Chair cut in from the left and struck low at goal, seeing his effort find the bottom corner via a deflection.

Looking to respond quickly, Daniel Farke’s side went on the attack themselves. Crysencio Summerville found Georginio Rutter, who then gave Joel Piroe a chance to shoot which the forward did, seeing his effort well saved by Asmir Begovic.

QPR doubled their lead with 22 minutes played, with a similar goal to their opener. Switching sides this time, they came down the right, and Lucas Andersen was the player to cut inside and curl his effort into the far corner.

Again looking to hit back, Summerville went close for Leeds. Willy Gnonto crossed in from the right wing and found the winger at the back post, he volleyed at goal, only to see Begovic save well again.

Leeds saw plenty of the ball for the remainder of the first half and had set-play chances, but could not find a way back into the game before the break.

HALF TIME: Queens Park Rangers 2-0 Leeds United

No changes were made at the break and the teams were back out for the second half under the lights of Loftus Road, with the hosts having a two-goal advantage.

Leeds were on the front foot from the off and had a big chance to reduce the deficit. Ethan Ampadu ran down the left and pulled the ball back into the box, Georginio collected and shot, seeing the effort go just wide of the post.

As the hour mark approached, Chair went close again for the guests, before changes then followed. Mateo Joseph entered and went into the attack, replacing Sam Byram, who had previously been booked.

The striker had a chance instantly after coming on. A low ball into the box found him at the near post, only to see Begovic make another good save from Joseph’s near-post flick.

The home side furthered their advantage with just over 15 minutes to play. From a corner into the box, Lyndon Dykes was there to connect and power home a header to make it three.

In the final five minutes, another header would make it four. Chair was the provider by crossing a free-kick in from the right, allowing Sam Field to leap highest this time and head in.
