Bayern – Frankfurt 2:1, Bayern set themselves up for the Champions League semi-finals with Real Madrid with a win over Frankfurt

--

Both goals were scored by forward Harry Kane, who has scored against 16 of 17 opponents this season. Before him, only Bayern gunner Gerd Müller (1966/67 and 1969/70), former Bremen player Ailton (2003/04) and Kane’s predecessor at Bayern Robert Lewandowski (2019/20 and 2020/21) had achieved the feat. The captain of the English national team will not create a new record this season, he came up empty-handed in both matches against Freiburg.

Frankfurt was only able to respond to Kane’s two goals in the 9th and 61st minutes with a goal from Ekitiky in the 23rd minute. The English gunner has already scored 35 goals and continues to attack Lewandowski’s record. The Polish striker scored 41 goals in the 2020/21 season. Kane’s second goal against Eintracht was also his 400th in his senior club and international career.

The fight for fourth place between Leipzig and Dortmund was dominated by the home RB 4:1. Borussia took the lead in the 20th minute thanks to Sancho, but since his intervention, the home side controlled the tempo of the game. Three minutes later, he equalized with his 24th league goal for Openda. Only the legend Uwe Seeler (1963/64) and Kane himself managed to score as many goals (30 and 35) in the premier Bundesliga season. Just before halftime, Šeško sent Leipzig into the lead.

Forty-five seconds after the start of the second act, Simakan made it 3-1 and Baumgartner sealed the final result with ten minutes to go. Dortmund now sit five points adrift in fourth place, but can still hope to qualify for the Champions League as the Bundesliga hopes for an additional place in UEFA’s European Cup rankings for next season.

Freiburg lost 1:2 at home to Wolfsburg, whose nomination for the match was missing Václav Černý. The home team took the lead just before half-time thanks to an own goal by Bornau. In the 64th minute, they lost Sildillia, who was sent off, and the guests used their numerical superiority in the 82nd minute, when Arnold equalized. The home team then scored a penalty in the 87th minute, but Sallai did not convert. His failure saddened the seventh team in the table all the more because in the 90th minute he turned the score in favor of the Lacroix guests.
