What is required is, among other things, practical experience with top-notch basic and applied research, an above-average ability to communicate in Czech and English, and a willingness to immediately and for as long as possible continue the work of outgoing Minister Helena Langšádlová and her team.
For less than three days, the vice-rector of the University of Silesia in Opava, Pavel Tuleja, was the TOP 09 candidate for the government instead of Langšádlová, before he resigned on Friday after the scandal surrounding his texts in dubious predatory magazines.
“We would like to express an opinion on behalf of the wider scientific community,” said Martin Opatrný, media representative of the national association Transfera, which includes representatives of several universities and is chaired by Eva Janouškovcová from the Center for Technology Transfer of Masaryk University Brno.
“The results of science and its application in practice are not sold by information on social networks and the number of likes received, they usually become part of the significant and often confidential know-how of the companies that use them,” wrote Janouškovcová.
The Langšádls in her own party blamed that she did not have enough likes on social networks. According to Markéta Pekarová Adamová, she put more effort into the content part of the work than the external presentation.
TOP 09 will address the filling of the post of Minister for Science, Research and Innovation on Tuesday, a week after it introduced Tuleja.
