Weather: There is a threat of thunderstorms in the Czech Republic today. The problem can arise in the mountains

On Saturday, storms occurred only exceptionally, especially in Moravia and in the east of Bohemia. According to meteorologists, the situation could be different today. In Bohemia, storms could form in the afternoon with significant convergence.

“Most of them could occur this afternoon and in the early evening approximately in the belt from southern Bohemia through the Highlands to eastern Bohemia and northwest Moravia. However, especially in the early afternoon, the first thunderstorms may also occur in northern or central Bohemia,” said the Institute for Social the X network.

In thunderstorms, small hail or local gusts of wind may occur. Precipitation could be a problem near mountains where the soil is more saturated, or in cities. In the rest of the territory, the level of soil saturation is very low.

The ČHMÚ added that the potential for thunderstorms will be higher on Monday afternoon and evening, namely in the eastern, southeastern and southern parts of Bohemia and Moravia. “There should be more energy and the start of convection will again be taken care of by significant convergence at the frontal interface. However, there is still a lot of uncertainty here, especially with regard to the wind shear, so we will clarify the situation tomorrow morning,” noted the meteorologists.
