The Prague Marathon restricts traffic. Drivers are not allowed on most of the waterfront in the center

--

The Prague Marathon on Sunday will limit traffic in the capital, especially in the center and other areas along the Vltava River. The measures will affect cars, trams and buses. The international race, which will be attended by 8,000 elite and amateur runners, will start at 09:00 from the Old Town Square.

Along the route of the race, which is over 42 kilometers long, police officers will gradually close and open streets and intersections from 08:00 to 16:00. Traffic restrictions will apply longer in Pařížská Street and on Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.

The route of the race will lead mainly around the Vltava in the territory of city districts 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 8, where some streets will be temporarily closed to traffic. A parking ban has been in effect for the entire race route since Saturday.

Today, in some parts of the day, drivers will not be able to drive through, for example, Čechův, Jiráskýv, Mánesův, Palacký or Libeňský bridge, Těšnovský tunnel and Dvořákovo, Rašínovo, Podolská, Masarykovo, Janáčkovo, Bubenská or Rohanská nábřeží. Those interested can get traffic information during the day by calling 800 100 991.

The marathon will also affect the operation of twenty tram and 14 bus lines. The Prague municipality recommends that travelers prefer to use the metro in the city center, the operation of which will be increased. People can find information about the changes on the website of the transport company or on its helpline 296 191 817.
