Judista Klammert celebrates her greatest success. He won silver at the Grand Slam in Dushanbe

Klammert won the fourth and most valuable medal of the world tournaments in Tajikistan. So far, he had three bronzes: from the Grand Slam in Antalya in 2021 and from the Grand Prix tournaments in Tunis in 2018 and last year in Dushanbe. “It’s an incredible feeling when you do it after such a long journey and I’d like to experience it again,” he said in a press release.

He valued not only the scalp of Majdov, but also the German Eduard Trippel a round earlier. “I was able to beat a European champion who was previously a world champion and a finalist from the Olympics,” he said after coming close to Olympic participation. “At the most important moment, I will bring home silver and a lot of points. I hope that I will confirm it again sometime and that it will be enough and I will look at Paris,” he wished.

Thanks to the silver, he significantly strengthened his chances to start on the Olympic tatami in Paris. The Grand Slam in Kazakhstan and the World Championship in Abu Dhabi at the end of May will also count towards his qualification. “For direct promotion, it would be necessary to repeat at least one more medal or to reach at least the quarter-finals at the World Championships,” he reflected.

He lost to Lorsanov in the final after a golden score. “I wanted to grab it and have them listen to the Czech national anthem for me,” said Klammert. “The final was very cautious from the beginning. The Russian has a very strong grip and waits for his opponent’s mistakes. I didn’t really get into the techniques, but after a few minutes his hands went away and we equalized in strength. I took a risk and made one attack, but he took it and threw me. But I would do it again when there is space, you need to attack,” he added.
